Production Orders

Plan and execute manufacturing workflows.

What are Production Orders?

A production order tells the system "I'm going to make X units of this finished good." It lists the raw materials needed (from the recipe/BOM), calculates demand, and tracks the order through planning, in-progress, and completed stages. When completed, raw materials are consumed and the finished good is received into inventory.

How It Works

1. Create Order — Select the finished good and quantity to produce.

2. BOM Explosion — The system loads the recipe and calculates material requirements.

3. Generic Resolution — Generic ingredients resolve to specific child items (cheapest, preferred, or in-stock).

4. Execute — Start production. Raw materials are issued from inventory.

5. Complete — Finished goods are received into inventory with a standard cost.
